Au ver a Soie has been making silk threads for well over 200 years and metallic threads since the 1970's. They offer a wide range of options for the needlework community and excellent quality.
We have stitched samples of the AVAS silk threads on various linen counts so you can see how they work for counted work.
Soie Perlee, Soie 100/3 and Soie Surfine all use one colors system. Soie 100/3 and Surfine are buttonhole twist threads and are suitable for machine embroidery or machine quilting as well as hand-work.
Soie d'Alger, Soie Gobelins, Soie de Paris and Soie Ovale all use another color system.
Soie d'Alger is stranded spun silk while Soie Gobelins, Soie de Paris, Soie Ovale and Soie Perlee are made from filament silk. These threads have more sheen to them. While Soie Perlee is not intended to be plied, it can be split into 3 bundles of 3 filament silk ply. The samples below were either stitched with Soie Perlee as it comes off the spool or split down to 1 bundle of 3 or further splitting that bundle - so essentially 1 ply of 9. This can give other options for find count linens.
