Hands Across the Seas Samplers - Jane Fiddes

Jane’s sampler, a particularly beautiful one, is filled to bursting with motifs that vibrate with colour. The more you study the sampler the more you will see.

This charming sampler has been mainly executed with cross stitch over two threads with a small amount of cross stitch over one thread for Patch the dog. Other stitches used are double running stitch, satin stitch, Algerian eyelet stitch, four-sided stitch, plait stitch and stem stitch. Jane’s sampler has been rated as suitable for intermediate and advanced needle workers but is not beyond a confident beginner. The sampler is an ideal choice for those who wish to expand their repertoire of stitches.

Jane’s stunning was been reproduced using Weeks Dyeworks 46ct Zweigart-based linen in straw with one strand of Au Ver à Soie Soie d’Alger silk. Conversions are provided for Au Ver à Soie 100/3 range and DMC.

The design area is 201 stitches (w) x 246 stitches (h). Our calculations have included a 3″ margin for finishing and framing.

We are still waiting for some threads from France and some fabric. As you can guess COVID-19 has played havoc with getting supplies. 

The list of individual colors is below. If you would like to order a full set of the silks, either Soie d'Alger or 100/3, they are in Related Items below. Fabric and silks packs will be sent June 1st in time for our July 4th SAL.

We have added Soie Perlee as a thread option for those working on 28 or 32 count fabric. You only use 1 strand of Soie Perlee as it comes off the spool. Not all colors in the 100/3 line are available in Soie Perlee, so we have made substitutions where needed.

If you purchase individual 100/3 colors and they are not listed in the catalog, put a note in the Comments for the missing ones. The catalog needs to be updated. Ordering the full set below gets you a discount.
