The cover sample is stitched on 32-count Linen in "Water Lily" (#65203), comparable to 16-count Aida. It would also work on grey, blue, purple, green, beige, or whatever you like! I don't recommend using white fabric, because of the white border.
This chart uses 23 DMC colors (1 skein each, unless otherwise stated): White (3 skeins), Ecru, 3822, 3820, 722, 720, 3609, 3608, 718, 747, 964, 959, 3812, 991, 341, 996, 995, 907, 906, 904, 435, 898, and 3799.
